What is Lake Martin YP
Lake Martin Young Professionals was founded around 2013 by a group of young people living in and around Alexander City. Their idea was to build an organization here locally similar to YP groups they'd been a part of in other cities. The group was successful in launching an initiative to connect young residents of the Lake Martin area through social activities, networking, community service and engaging with important local issues.
In September 2015, Lake Martin YP became an official program of the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce, helping provide organizational leadership and consistency in planning events and activities. The membership has grown to approximately 75 local young people, with the YP group responsible for taking on a number of successful endeavors, including the annual Lake Martin YP Polar Plunge, Strand Sessions (a five-month free live music series in downtown Alex City), the YP New Year's Eve Casino Night Party, and participating in numerous volunteer and community service initiatives to name a few.
