ALL ABOUT COMMUNITY
Our Story

LMYP: WE AIM TO BALANCE SOCIAL ACTIVITIES WITH EVENTS THAT ENRICH THE COMMUNITY BY SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES, HELPING TO BUILD LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES, AND PROMOTING VOLUNTEERISM.
Lake Martin Young Professionals was founded in 2013 by a group of young people living in and around Alexander City. The idea was to build an organization locally similar to YP groups they'd been a part of in other cities. The group was successful in launching an initiative to connect young residents of the Lake Martin area through social activities, networking, community service and engaging with important local issues.
Two years later in September 2015, Lake Martin YP became an official program of the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce, helping provide organizational leadership and consistency in planning events and activities. The membership has grown to over 75 local young people, with the YP group responsible for taking on a number of successful annual endeavors, including the wildly popular, Polar Plunge and Strand Sessions, season long free live music series, plus participating in numerous volunteer and community service initiatives to name a few!
AM I A YOUNG PROFESSIONAL?
Wikipedia defines a young professional as an individual between 21 - 40 working a white collar position. At LMYP, we are open to both the young and young at heart! Anyone looking to network, develop professionally, and engage with their community in a meaningful way is welcome. Our events are open to all but we'd love to have you join our ranks.
